Increased risk of IRIS-associated tuberculosis in HIV-infected patients receiving Integrase Inhibitors

چکیده

• ART-containing integrase inhibitors could be associated with higher incidence of TB-associated IRIS. Prospective studies are needed to better characterize the risk IRIS-TB and determine optimal ART regimen for TB-HIV coinfected patients. Tuberculosis is a immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS) after initiation. Data from all patients newly diagnosed tuberculosis disease uncontrolled HIV infection 1997 2017 in French center were retrospectively collected. We evaluated tuberculosis-IRIS initiating or without (INSTI) Fifty-five included: 21 receiving an INSTI 34 non-INSTI regimen. Except regard regimen, two groups comparable (median CD4 85/mm 3 ). The overall percentage IRIS was 34% (19/55), 52% 23% respectively ( P = 0.04). In multivariate logistic model, we observed increased compared non-INSTI, OR at 3.33 [95% CI, 1.01–11.1] 0.05) containing

prevalence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in patients infected with HIV by microscopical and molecular methods

Background:In some countries, one of the first and most common manifestations of HIV positive patients is tuberculosis (TB). HIV positive people are prone to other infections such as tuberculosis due to immune deficiency and reduced CD4+ cell count. Although increasing access to antiretroviral therapy has led to a reduction in HIV-related opportunistic infections and mortality, the simultaneous...

Risk Factors Associated with the Development of Tuberculosis Among HIV-Infected Patients in Khartoum in 2010

Background Tuberculosis (TB) screening among patients infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is one of the approaches for controlling TB-HIV co-infection. The absence of typical TB symptoms among HIV-infected patients makes diagnosis challenging. Identifying predisposing risk factors of TB among HIV-infected patients could possibly guide TB diagnosis and treatment. This study was desi...

Metabolic Disorders in HIV-Infected Adolescents Receiving Protease Inhibitors

Protease inhibitor (PI) may cause abnormal glucose metabolism, abnormal lipid metabolism, and metabolic syndrome in HIV-infected adults but less well studied in Asian adolescents. This cross-sectional study evaluated anthropometric factors, oral glucose tolerance test, and lipid profiles of perinatally HIV-infected Thai adolescents who had received PI-based antiretroviral therapy for at least 6...

Low CD4 count is associated with an increased risk of fragility fracture in HIV-infected patients.

BACKGROUND Low bone mineral density in HIV-infected patients is an increasingly recognized clinical problem. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence, prevalence, and risk factors for development of low trauma or fragility fractures in an HIV-infected population. METHODS A 1:2 matched case-control study was performed of HIV-infected patients attending the Alfred Hospital between 1...
